New Delhi: Indian fast bowler, Jasprit Bumrah, took to social media on Thursday to share a gym selfie after being sidelined from the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy tournament. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the official announcement of his absence in a statement released on Tuesday evening. "Due to a lower back injury, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah will not be able to participate in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. In his place, Harshit Rana has been named as his replacement," BCCI declared.

Bumrah posted a photo on Instagram from the gym, where he wrote in the caption, “rebuilding.” The 31-year-old pacer shared the image with his followers.
Bumrah has been absent from competitive cricket since January. His final outing was during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test in Sydney against Australia. After delivering 10.1 overs in the first innings, the star bowler appeared uncomfortable and underwent scans. Australian medical staff recommended that he not continue playing in the remaining part of the Sydney Test. Although he returned to bat in the second innings, he did not bowl.
The eight-team tournament, scheduled from February 19 to March 9, will feature 15 matches across Pakistan and Dubai. Pakistan and the UAE will jointly host the ICC Champions Trophy, with India playing its matches in Dubai following a hybrid model. One of the tournament’s major highlights, the clash between India and Pakistan, will take place on February 23. India will begin its campaign against Bangladesh on February 20, with the final group-stage match against New Zealand set for March 2.
