New Delhi: While cricket fans are eagerly watching the Indian cricket stars like Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Jasprit Bumrah as they gear up for the Border-Gavaskar Series in Australia, another Indian cricketer, Smriti Mandhana, is also making waves in the country. Mandhana is currently playing for Adelaide Strikers in the Women’s Big Bash League and has already left a mark with her exceptional performance. In a recent match against Hobart Hurricanes, the left-handed batter played a scintillating knock, scoring 51 runs off just 32 balls at the Hobart ground. Mandhana's innings was a spectacle to watch, as she smashed a flurry of sixes and fours with ease, showcasing her brilliance on the field. It is clear that Mandhana is in top form and ready to make a significant impact in the Women’s Big Bash League.

Mandhana wasted no time and began attacking as soon as she walked to the crease. She made the most of the powerplay, hitting a total of 6 fours and 2 sixes. Mandhana brought up her half-century in just 31 balls. She formed a 50-run partnership with opener KT Mac, as the duo added 67 runs off 45 balls, with 51 of those coming from Mandhana’s bat. While KT Mac struggled with her batting, Mandhana ensured the team’s run rate didn’t dip. However, after reaching her half-century, Mandhana was dismissed, caught by Cloy Tyrone off Lauren Smith’s delivery.

Before Mandhana, South African batter Lizelle Lee, playing for Hobart Hurricanes, smashed a brilliant century. Opening the innings, Lee faced 59 balls and struck 13 fours and 4 sixes, finishing with 103 runs at a strike rate close to 175. Along with Lee, Nicola Carey contributed 64 runs off 46 balls. Captain Vilani remained unbeaten on 23. These strong performances helped Hobart post a total of 191 runs in their 20 overs. Mandhana had struggled in her previous two innings, scoring just 6 runs in the first match for Strikers and 40 runs in the next, signaling her return to form. She now followed up with a spectacular half-century.
