Indian cricket team rewrote history on Day 1 of their first Test against New Zealand at the MCA Stadium in Pune. In the 147-year history of Test cricket, no other team has managed to claim all 10 wickets through off-spinners – something India managed to achieve on Thursday (October 24).
Tamil Nadu off-spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Washington Sundar spun out New Zealand for just 259 after India had lost the toss and were forced to bowl first. While Ashwin began the rout by claiming the first three wickets, it was Sundar who completed the collapse claiming the last 7 wickets to fall to finish with his career-best Test figures of 7/59 in 23.1 overs.
