New Delhi: Afghanistan’s opener Ibrahim Zadran is uncertain for the one-off Test against New Zealand after sustaining an injury in Greater Noida on Sunday. The 22-year-old opening batter injured his ankle during the team’s final practice session before Afghanistan’s historic Test against New Zealand, set to begin on Monday. Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi shared, "Today, during the practice session, Ibrahim injured his ankle. However, his availability for tomorrow's match is not confirmed. We will assess his condition and make a decision accordingly."

Zadran has played seven of Afghanistan’s nine Tests. He had scored his maiden century in the format earlier this year in February against Sri Lanka. Afghanistan is already without star spinner Rashid Khan.

The weather has marred Afghanistan and New Zealand’s preparation for this historic Test as it looks like it would rain heavily between the matches according to the weather reports.
