United have only managed to score five goals in the Premier League so far this season, making them one of the lowest-scoring teams in the league. With only Southampton scoring fewer goals, it has been a tough start for Erik ten Hag's side as they struggle to find their attacking rhythm.
Premier League legend Paolo Di Canio has bashed Manchester United's summer signing Joshua Zirkzee for his poor ability and pace which he says is not good enough for the Premier League.AdvertisementAdvertisementEx-West Ham and Sheffield Wednesday forward Di Canio has now bashed Zirkzee who has started 10 times this season for the club but has only managed a single goal after some extremely poor appearances that has left many questioning whether he is ready for the Premier League.
“I would loan Zirkzee from Manchester United, Di Canio told Tuttosport. “They've been making crazy choices for several years and none of them are working, not even Zirkzee who's a bit too slow for the Premier League.
“Perhaps he'll prove me wrong with goals and great performances, but in England, they attack you straight away and whistle 30 per cent fewer fouls.
“In Italy, we saw his impact on Bologna. In the end, amidst the confusion at United, they could even loan him out. They already have (Rasmus) Hojlund, and then there's Rashford who can play as a striker.
“He'd be the perfect profile for Juventus, also because it would allow (Thiago) Motta to have a striker with different characteristics to (Dusan) Vlahovic. Zirkzee isn't a devastating scorer, he's not someone who can score 25 goals, but he helps others play well.”
The Dutchman scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 37 appearances in all competitions last season for Bologna which attracted the attention of multiple elite sides but since he scored on his debut for United he has crumbled and does not look like he can compete at the highest level.
Di Canio also bashed United for allowing the transfer of Scott McTominay to Napoli for £26M where he has been a vital player to the side who sit atop of the Serie A after a fantastic start to the season.
